Journee Trip - Travel

Going to An Unknown Location

It seems a good idea in contrasting my work life with my retirement life to go on a trip with few decisions. So my husband Mark and I decided to go on a trip where we won’t know where we are going until we get to the airport.

Using the company, Journee which Mark saw on Instagram, we filled out the questionnaire – for instance we ranked small history-filled, colorful places over hikes and bungy jumping – and they sent us a proposal. You also give a budget and length of stay and they have offerings to upgrade flights and accommodations. If this is at all interesting to you, note that you can fill out the questionnaire yet not take the trip. We filled out a couple before we decided to do it.

The proposal includes several outings they have arranged and also tells us that the temperature where we’re going will be 55 degrees, they will send us a packing list 3 weeks before we go, and will send us 8 clues. The company is based in the UK and they book travel to Europe as well as Morocco and Jordan.

The Proposal

Our financial guy told us that the first years in retirement are the "Go Go Years", then we move to the "Slow Go Years" then the "No Go Years". A friend said "and then uh oh." This blog documents some of our Go Go Years!
